I design my own schedule and work remotely, built around my family instead of building my family around a job. I came to this from years in ministry, with no insurance background and five kids at home, and now I help families protect the people they love, mostly by phone and video. For the right person, this is real control over your time, work that matters on the hardest days, and a business that's yours.
This is independent, commission-based work.
What this work gives back is hard to put a number on. You get far more control over your calendar, so you have a real say in when you're working and when you're courtside at your kid's game. You're building your own business, with your name on it. You get genuinely good at guiding families through one of the biggest financial decisions they'll ever make. And on the hard days it still means something, because you were the reason a family was protected before their worst one came.
The whole business runs by phone and video. No commute, no territory you're boxed into, and you set your own hours. Running your day without a boss takes discipline, and that freedom is the part I'd never trade back.
Agents can reach consumer leads through approved sources. Leads are usually a paid business expense and don't guarantee appointments, so your follow-up and consistency are what turn them into sales.
Mutual of Omaha. Foresters. Americo. SBLI. Corebridge. You're not inventing a product from scratch. You're helping families compare coverage from established carriers and find something that fits their situation.
Symmetry's training walks through what to do and when. How fast you place a first policy varies with licensing timelines and how you apply what you learn. And I'll be in your corner through the wins and the hard stretches.
You've been trying to build something and nothing has clicked yet. You've got the hustle and want somewhere to put it. This gives that drive a direction and a system to run on.
Ministry, teaching, healthcare, community work. You already know how to show up for people in hard moments. This work uses that same gift, helping families put protection in place before the worst day, with income tied to the work you do.
You've got a 9-5 that covers the bills but comes with a ceiling. Many agents start part-time while keeping their income, and build from there.
This is a 1099 independent-contractor role. Compensation is commission-based and not guaranteed. You'll carry real business expenses along the way, things like licensing, background checks, continuing education, and leads. Since commissions are often advanced, part of one can be adjusted back if a client cancels in the early months. That's a normal part of how the business runs. Individual results vary widely, and some agents earn little or no income. I'd rather you understand the business clearly before we ever talk.
Neither was I. I came from ministry. The people who do best at this are helpers first. The families you'll talk to already asked for information, so you're mostly listening and helping them figure out what fits.
Fair question, and no. You earn commission when you protect a family with a real policy from companies like Mutual of Omaha. Nobody buys product to sit in a garage. Building a team is optional and comes later, and the money starts with helping families one policy at a time.
The licensing course runs around $100 with our team discount. Add your state's exam fee and background check and you're generally looking at a few hundred dollars to get licensed. Beyond that, plan for ongoing business expenses. There's no multi-thousand-dollar buy-in to join. Your biggest ongoing cost, if you use them, is usually leads.
Two minutes. I read every submission myself and reply within one business day. No assistant, just me.
I'll review what you sent and reach out within one business day. If you'd rather not wait, grab a time on my calendar now, and watch the video in step 2 while you're here.
Book a time now →Jim Larsen mentors me, and it's the best explanation of this career I've found. Watch it before we talk and it answers most of what you'd ask.
Once I have your form, I'll reach out within one business day, and we'll figure out together whether this is a fit for where you are right now.
