Do you actually haveenough life insurance?

Most families have something in place. Maybe it's coverage through work, an old policy you bought years ago, or a combination of both. The harder question is whether what you have would actually be enough for your family. Our free Life Insurance Scorecard helps you take a quick look at your coverage and see if there's anything worth a closer look.

It takes about five minutes. And if you're already in a good spot, that's a great answer too.

Why I do this

This work is personal for our family.

I've seen what happens on both sides of life insurance. My own family has experienced unexpected deaths without coverage in place. I've sat in a funeral home trying to figure out how we were going to pay for a service. When others set up GoFundMe pages for our family, I was the one pushing them out publicly, trying to get enough eyes on them to make a difference, all while we were grieving. I've also seen the other side of it in my own family. When my dad passed, he had life insurance, and it meant my mom could stay in the house I grew up in until she was ready to sell it, on her own timeline, instead of being forced into big decisions while she was grieving. Bethany lived that same side of it. She lost her first husband to cancer and was left raising their five children. Because he had life insurance, she was able to keep their home, care for their kids, and have some financial breathing room while their family figured out how to live through an unimaginable loss. Those experiences are a big part of why I do this work differently. I don't believe you need to be scared into buying life insurance. I think you deserve to understand what you already have, what your family may actually need, and what options make sense for you.

The Spencer promise

If what you already have is right, I'll tell you to keep it.

If what you already have is right for you, I'll tell you to keep it. I've had plenty of conversations that ended with me telling someone they didn't need to buy anything from me. Sometimes an existing policy is a great policy. Sometimes someone already has enough coverage. Sometimes buying something new simply doesn't make sense. My job is to help you understand what you have and what your family may need. If there's something worth changing, I'll explain your options and help you find something that fits your budget. If there isn't, I'll tell you that too.

What most people miss

Life insurance may do more than you realize.

Depending on the type of coverage you have, your policy may be able to help your family in more ways than simply providing a death benefit. Some policies include benefits you can access during a serious illness, while others can build cash value over time.

1

Protect your income

Some policies include living benefits that may allow you to access a portion of your coverage if a qualifying illness or condition keeps you from working.

2

Build cash you can use

Some policies can build cash value over time that you may be able to borrow against for things like a car, a business, or an emergency.

3

Living benefits

Depending on your policy, living benefits may let you access part of your coverage during a serious illness while you're still here.

Real stories from widows

He was sick for most of his young adult life and never qualified for coverage. He died young, and I was left with a newborn and toddlers and almost nothing to our name. I moved in with family, went on assistance, and put my grief on a shelf for ten years while I clawed us out. I tell everyone young and healthy with a family: get it, and get it now. People think it's morbid to plan for this. My family is what it looks like when you don't.

Licensed Agent Independent, Multiple Carriers Free 30-Minute Review

Before I became a life insurance agent, I spent years as a pastor. I've sat with families through funerals and the incredibly hard days that follow. I've also been the family sitting on the other side of that table. I've sat in a funeral director's office planning a service for someone I loved while wondering how our family was going to pay for it. Those experiences changed the way I think about this work, and the way I want to treat the people who trust me to help them. I'm an independent agent, which means I can look at options from multiple insurance companies rather than trying to fit every family into the same solution. Here's our whole story →

There's no fee to meet with me, and working with an agent doesn't cost you a dollar more. If you get a policy, the insurance company pays me, and that's already built into the price whether you use an agent or not.
